Thank you so much for your website. I have only recently given in and admitted that the "g" word applies to my 7 year-old son. Before I educated myself about it, I was reluctant to label him and didn't really see the point. Your articles have helped me to realise that he does indeed have special needs and issues. I only wish I had looked you up sooner.

I am glad we have been able to provide you with support and information.
I hope you continue to enjoy access to current information and ideas .
By joining the Association you are able to meet others who often have the same concerns and needs, and to hear a range of speakers who have diverse experiences living and working with gifted children.

The NSWAGTC is wonderful and I can not speak more highly of any organisation. I first attended the coffee mornings when my daughter was 18mths old. She was very different from other children of her age group and I was feeling very isolated. My daughter, now 3 has been formally assessed as exceptionally gifted. Cindy, at the coffee mornings suspected as much when she first met us and gave us lots of books to read and support. If any parent suspects that their little one is a bit different go along to the coffee mornings and have a chat. These guys are fantastic.

My son is in his first year in an Opportunity Class at his school. It is so amazing to see just how much he has available to him now compared to the school he was at, where they refused to do anything to accelerate him, even to the point of refuting the results he obtained when tested by an educational psychologist

Did you know?

Gifted children vary a lot. Some are great at sports. Some have disabilities. Children can be gifted or not along one or more of a large number of dimensions. Labels like "gifted" need to be used carefully as all children are different.
