The support group in Canberra is still running activities.
Our regular coffee and chats operate every second Friday of school terms at The Writers Centre, Gorman House Braddon, from 10am-11.30am. Drop in for a coffee, talk and share with other parents. Discuss any books or articles you have read. Members free, non-members $10/term.

Our popular camp for primary school age children will be on in September, and we were hoping a few parents may attend the National Conference in Tasmania next term.

Our committee always welcomes new members.

Hello

I have often tried to contact the Canberra support group without success and wonder whether it is still in existence. Based on the above comment I gather that it is. Do you have any talks planned and how can I find out about what is happening with the local group?

Thanks

Susan

If you wish to contact us by phone, please use the contact number inside the Gifted Magazine front cover (the recent addition always holds the current number). In addition, the local Citizens Advice Bureau always has an updated phone contact or the association office in Merrylands.
Otherwise please try the email link above,
Please be aware that the local group is organized wholly by volunteers in their spare time, so an email is often the easiest way to go.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Elizabeth

Did you know?

Gifted children vary a lot. Some are great at sports. Some have disabilities. Children can be gifted or not along one or more of a large number of dimensions. Labels like "gifted" need to be used carefully as all children are different.

NSWAGTC Support Groups

THE NSWAGTC has a number of support groups across NSW and the ACT. The support groups may organise activities for gifted children and/or run a program for parents and teachers depending on the perceived needs of the geographical area or special interest need. Support groups can be a useful first point of contact for those new to the demands of giftedness.

We also have a number of support contacts (members who have volunteered to share their knowledge and experience with other parents or teachers of gifted children) in areas across NSW. Contact the NSWAGTC office for details of your closest support contact, or if you are interested in finding out about establishing a group in your area. Most groups are organised by ordinary parents with an interest in "doing something" to meet the needs of their children and the Association can provide assistance in getting things started.
